Pre-Travel Packing List

As I know many people are traveling for the holidays, I’ve put together a list for preparing your home and a pre-travel to-do list, called the “Before You Go-Go” packing list. Lists always make my life easier– something about getting items off my brain and on paper makes me feel like my neurons can begin focusing on the more important things in life. Feel free to print these lists out. Use them. And I’ve left extra spaces for you to customize and personalize them as you see fit. Enjoy!

Carry-On Packing List

Air travel can often be a stressful series of events: lines, dreaded security checkpoints, removal of shoes, 3-ounce containers. Ugh! Even as a professional organizer, I sometimes find myself stressing out and struggling against the clock, so I don’t miss a flight. On the way out the door, I’m praying that I haven’t inadvertently forgotten something important. Being prepared, and feeling assured that you’re packing what you need, can definitely alleviate much of the stress when it comes to air travel. What’s made my life easier are packing lists. I have a list for my carry-on bags, a list for my suitcase and toiletries case, and a “to-do” list of the things I need to accomplish before I leave. These lists put my mind at ease and keep me in control of the packing process. I’m sharing with you the packing list for my purse and small carry-on bag. I lovingly call this my “Enjoy Your Flight” packing list which includes the necessities of what I bring on the plane with me (I’ll go over the details of the other lists in a later post). As I’m getting things together, I check tasks or items off as I’m packing them.

Feel free to print this list for yourself and add/remove items since everyone has different “necessities”. Especially if you’re traveling with children. Or pets. The point is to use this list as a jumping off point and lay the plans out before you start packing. Customize and create your own “Enjoy Your Flight” list to include the things you need for yourself and your family. I promise that these small preparation steps will enhance your travel experience. Dare I say, making air travel an enjoyable experience?! Pack and go somewhere awesome!
